Custom-built in 1969 with real solid wood from top to bottom, this country ranch house has been thoughtfully renovated and upgraded while preserving its original charm.<br /><br />On the ground floor are 2 cozy private bedrooms with queen beds, a semi-private room between the garage and kitchen (separated from the bathroom by curtains) with a trundle and bunk bed that is best suited for children, and a large bathroom with a sunken shower/tub.<br /><br />The main living room features a fireplace for chilly Volcano evenings. A second living area includes beautiful Ohia wood posts, French doors, stained glass, and an enclosed lanai/sunroom.<br /><br />Upstairs, the spacious master suite has a California king bed, a queen bed, and a large private bathroom, comfortably accommodating a family of four if needed.<br /><br />French doors and windows, Ohia wood posts, stained glass art, etched mirrors, mosaic Koa wood floors, high ceilings, and open spaces are some of the unique details that give this home its character.<br /><br />With nearly 3,000 square feet indoors, large open areas, expansive pasture land, flower gardens, and a quiet inspiring setting, this home is ideal for family gatherings, retreats, writers, artists, nature lovers, and romantic getaways.<br /><br />The home is not childproof and therefore not suitable for very small children, but older children are welcome and often enjoy exploring the property and visiting the petting zoo at nearby Lili House Farm.<br /><br />Outside, there is a lava rock fire pit, a large yard, a barn where animals shelter on rainy days, and nine acres of pasture land with grazing sheep. Guests are welcome to walk the pasture and enjoy the peaceful scenery, while being mindful around the animals and keeping gates closed.<br /><br />At nearly 4,000 feet elevation, Volcano is cooler than Hilo or Kona, especially in the evenings, so warm clothing is recommended. The cool mountain climate, however, makes for wonderful hiking, exploring, and restful sleep.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />Guests have access to the entire main house, surrounding gardens and yard, and the pasture areas around the property for walking and enjoying the scenery<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />The property is not wheelchair accessible and may not be suitable for very small children or elderly guests due to interior and exterior stairs, elevation changes, and uneven surfaces.<br /><br />Please include the exact number of guests in your reservation request to ensure accurate pricing.
