Since 1956, it has been home to iconic surfers, artists, educators, and ocean‑loving families. They were originally brought by other island peoples, and many were released when no longer used for traditional cock fighting. Their descendants now roam freely — the closed gate helps keep them at bay.

ADU & Garage
The garage and attached ADU house are for long‑term residents and are off‑limits.
Walk under the wide covered lanai past the ADU to reach Sea Joy.
Behind the ADU is the blue surf shower for all guests.
Front Door
Follow the path from the surf shower to the Sea Joy entrance.

Deck & Lanai Safety
After tropical showers, the deck and lanai can become slippery. KITCHEN GUIDELINES
To keep the home clean and bug‑free:
Store all food in the fridge or sealed containers.
Do dishes promptly.
Avoid eating in bedrooms.
Rinse dishes before loading the dishwasher.
We like to cook and have arranged the kitchen so you can make nice meals to enjoy while you watch the ocean, sky, and sea life from the dinning table.

Dishwasher Ritual
Run water in the sink.
Turn on garbage disposal for a few seconds.
Turn off disposal.
Turn off water.
Start dishwasher.
(The disposal is for clearing the vacuum in the system, not grinding food.)

Garbage & Recycling
In the kitchen there is a non‑burnable garbage bin with extra bags.
Keep the lid closed to avoid pests.
The white basket next to it is for recycling:
Cardboard
Paper
Cans
Bottles etc.
Please rinse recyclables before placing them in the basket.

6. AIR CONDITIONING (USE PONO)
Electricity in Hawai‘i is costly and fossil‑fuel based.
Please:
Use AC only when needed.
Keep doors and windows closed when it’s on.
The main unit cools the kitchen/dining area and can cool bedrooms if doors are open.

7. BEACH GEAR & LAUNDRY
Beach towels and toys are in the white chest on the deck.
Use beach towels for the beach; keep house towels indoors.
Laundry machines are available for guest use.
