Spacious key entry room (1 of 4) w/ queen bed, dresser, 70 inch TV, & armoire.
Charming SOFA District Gated Victorian (2nd St.) is a 5 to 10 minute walk to Adobe, Zoom, EY, San Jose McEnery Convention Center, Center for Performing Arts, SJ Civic Center, SAP (Sharks hockey & concerts), SJSU, Ca. Theater, Children's Discovery Museum, Tech Museum, Rock Climbing gym, Jui Jitsu & Boxing gyms, yoga studio, SOFA Market, San Pedro Square, restaurants, & bars.

The space
Room 4 is the first room on the right, with a 4 on the door. This room has a wooden queen sleigh bed, and tons of old fashion charm and ambience.

There is a 70 inch streaming TV to sign onto your favorite apps. There is an armoire wardrobe and a huge dresser to put your belongings. There is a towel set in the room and water bottle. The bathroom is shared with other guests (you may have house to yourself, except convention or intern season!) so schedule time accordingly. The room is cozy and clean. Enjoy your fireplace mantel with a right side power and selection controlled flame that can be used as a night light or a heater depending on your preference.

We like our property because it is walking distance, (e-bikes and e-scooters also sprinkled throughout downtown) and uber distance to many places - including the convention center, Adobe, EY, Zoom, center for performing arts, tech museum, SJSU Shark Tank (SAP), SOFA Market (best Cuban food and other selections!) etc. Downtown has much to offer as there are many restaurants, bars, coffee shops (Academic Coffee on 2nd is a SJ local fav.), and workout (gyms, yoga, martial arts, climbing, etc.) locations in walking distance. If you want to venture out on a day trip, like Santa Cruz, Napa, Carmel, Capitola, San Francisco, Monterey etc., we have super easy access to the freeway and the train at Diridon Station. The 280 entrance is a couple blocks up. We are a 10 minute uber ride from the airport as well which is convenient after a long flight.

You are welcome to use the washer and dryer on the back porch, but please ask availability, and we ask a $4 donation each device per load for soap, water and pg&e. Our SJ utility costs are huge.

I usually have snacks in the kitchen cabinet (soup, pasta, rice, oatmeal), as well as tons of condiments for cooking, and sometimes snacks or sauces in refrigerator, so help yourself. If there are other guests staying in the other rooms, please communicate, so you don’t eat each other’s meals, of course! 🤣

Welcome to becoming part of our AirBnB family during your stay!

Guest access
You may access dining room, (there is a grand piano you can play gently during appropriate hours), kitchen (for keurig, refrigerator, stove etc.) and bathroom (these are shared areas so keep them clean please.) Do not access the other bedrooms of course. The laundry washing machine and dryer are on the back porch if you need it for stays 3 days or more. You can also sit out on the porch.

I have 2 other units on the property. The studio is an Airbnb rental and you have no access of course, and the basement apartment (separate entrance, is for my son Nick (works at tech company) & myself when in town, only as I do not rent this space out.

During your stay
I am available by phone most the time. I am in and out of the home and sometimes travel, but if I am in town, you will most likely see me during extended stays.

Other things to note
Early or Late check in is $25/hour and must be pre-approved in writing on the app, as it affects the cleaning and parking schedule.

Parking is in the back of the house rather than the front. It is an old-fashioned layout so from the front yard you enter through an iron gate. There is a lock chain on it at times but it just lifts off. (for show mostly.) The gate has a typical lever you lift on the left side inside the door to open it. That doesn’t have a lock on it.

If you are parking your car, the front is available and best spot, but first come first serve as it is on the sidewalk.
To access the driveway parking (with permission only as only 2 spots and we have 4 rooms) at our place (based on availability- possibly a charge depending on season), enter the chapel parking lot from Reed St. (across from Notre Dame High School) and proceed straight to the connecting alley. Our driveway is the first on the right.

Note: parking under the freeway overpass in the front of the house on 2nd St. across the street is free during the weekend and weeknights and $5/day m-f which is really inexpensive for downtown San Jose.

Parking is free in front of our house but do not park there Tuesday night because of street sweepers early Wed morning, or you will get a ticket. There are signs accordingly.

Urban area- walking distance to convention center. Near 280 overpass.

Quiet time is 10:00pm during the week, to respect others and their work schedule.

There is downtown city noise - 280 overpass, jets entering San Jose Airport, Sirens occasionally, etc. We have ear plugs if you like or you can book elsewhere if you can’t handle noise please.

The bathroom is shared. We are down to earth and deal with it, but if you want your own bathroom this is not the place for you. Don’t leave personal items in bathroom, and wipe ALL hair from sink and shower after use. There are also disposable toilet cleaners next to toilet.

We have a motion camera facing the front yard gate and back of the house driveway for safety reasons. These are not monitored. It deletes automatically in time. This is a safety precaution.

Other than that, welcome!
