This cabin is great for family vacations any time of year. It's a wonderful change of scenery with easy access to Truckee and the North Lake Tahoe Area.<br /><br />Spring/Summer/Fall - Hiking, Golf, Biking, Swimming... generally enjoying the mountains, lakes and fresh air. <br /><br />Winter snow plow service keeps the driveway clear thru every storm. The driveway is able to accommodate 3+ cars and slopes down to the cabin from the road. The driveway is often icy during the winter months, and you may need all wheel drive or need to chain up to get up the driveway. <br /><br />Take advantage of the free shuttle - picks you up at your door and takes you to the Village, recreation center or the slopes at Northstar California Resort.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />Guests will have the entire cabin to themselves.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />This cabin has been in my family for over 45 years. Please take care of it and treat it as your own during your stay. <br /><br />When you arrive, you will need to turn on the WATER (Location: master bdrm, ground level, below window, turn key 90°). You will need to turn it off again at the end of your stay.<br /><br />Thermostat located on the living room on the wall. You will also find extra blankets in the drawers and closets, too. During the summer, you may want to use the floor fans if it gets hot in the afternoon. <br /><br />NPOA Rec Center/Guest Cards<br />You will have access to the rec center (pool, hot tubs, tennis, workout room, pickleball, bocce ball). Cost is $10 per person, per day fee for guests (children under 5 are free). Pls return cards to the hooks near front door when you are done. ** You will also need to use one of these cards to empty your trash before you leave at the NPOA Dumpsters. **<br /><br />Transportation<br />A free Northstar Shuttle can take you to the village/rec center and back again. <br />Schedule this thru the Northstar Transportation app (free download to your smart phone). Tahoe Truckee Area Regional Transportation (TART) provides public transportation for the Truckee - North Lake Tahoe region. <br /><br />TV + internet <br />The cabin has strong WiFi. There is an AppleTVs and DVD players in the living room and the loft. You are welcome to use our Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix, or stream up your own content. <br /><br />CLEANING<br />At the end of your stay, please leave the cabin in the same condition that you found it. Prep the cabin for cleaning: strip beds, hang out used towels, wash and dry at least one load (if possible), please clean all dishes and kitchen items, pick up and put away all belongings and remove your trash and recycling to NPOA dumpsters on Northstar Drive (using NPOA Guestcards for access to dumpsters). <br /><br />FOOD<br />The cabin has some staple item, but not much. Please plan to pack in and pack out any food you need. <br /><br />Closest grocery store is Raley's (10001 Soaring Way) -- next to the Truckee Airport. This store is very clean and very well staffed. Great Deli & Pizza service. <br /><br />Other grocery options:<br />Safeway in Kings Beach (Head toward the lake on 267 and turn right on N Lake Blvd, 7815 N. Lake Blvd, Kings Beach, CA 96143). Truckee also has a Safeway (Frates Lane & Donner Pass Road, Truckee, CA 96161), Grocery Outlet (11213 Donner Pass Road) and a Save Mart (11399 Deerfield Drive, Truckee, CA 96161). <br /><br />EATING OUT ...<br />Truckee and North Lake Tahoe have many excellent places to eat. Most are open for take-out & dine-in.
