You will be 3 miles from Volcano National Park and a short drive to the Black Sand Beaches and Ka'u coffee region.<br /><br />Maximum 2 guests, no events, and no pets.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />Join us in our newly renovated, 250sqft. guest suite. Situated on 1.5 acres of native forest on the Big Island of Hawai'i, you'll experience cool-temps, unparalleled stargazing and wake to the sound of native birds chirping outside panoramic windows. The guest space in our home has a private entrance, vaulted ceiling, skylights, full-sized bathroom with walk-in shower, and kitchenette. The kitchenette is equipped with a toaster oven, coffee-maker, and mini-fridge for your essentials. Drinking water is rainwater catchment that is filtered and sterilized using UV light. All taps provide potable water. However, the plumbing and water heater are old so we ask to be mindful of water use!<br /><br />You'll sleep snug in a king-sized bed with plenty of comfy pillows and blankets to choose from. The skylights do let in the morning sun so consider a sleeping mask if you’re sensitive to light. Volcano is at 3750ft of elevation. Days can be cool and nighttime temps often dip into the 50's so its great sleeping weather. Start your morning strolling private trails and investigating lava features on the property. Watch your footing for roots, cracks and seams. There is high-speed internet access - but we encourage you to unplug and soak up the natural beauty! Plant, bird, and hiking guides provided.<br /><br />Our property is gated, with outdoor security cameras monitoring the driveway and doors.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />You’ll have a separate entrance, and private room and bath. You’re welcome to explore the trails around the house - watch your step for uneven ground!<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />Our home is located in Volcano Village on 1.5 acres of native forest - experience the iconic Ohia Lehua trees, Loulu Palms, Hapu'u Ferns, Sugi Pines, and massive Camellias, plus many more! Keep your eyes peeled for the native Apapane, 'Io (Hawaiian Hawk), Japanese White-Eye, Saffron finches, and our flock of chickens that share our home. They might beg, but please do not feed any of the birds/chickens. <br /><br />A note on the climate: yes, it's Hawai'i, but Volcano can surprise you with cool temperatures. Please bring warm clothes!<br /><br />Venture about 30 miles south along the Belt Road and you'll find yourself at the famous black sand beach of Punalu'u and deep in the heart of the Ka'u coffee growing region.
