Enjoy our large lawn, hammock & beach for relaxation & fun.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />The Seaside Zen Cottage is a casually comfortable 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom cottage located about 2.5 miles south of Kailua-Kona and fronting a sandy beach and a sheltered lagoon. <br /><br />Living and dining share space on the first floor. The living dining space is an excellent example of ‘mauka – makai‘ (mountain-ocean) design. Daily sea breezes and evening mountain air cools the space. There is a bookcase in the corner, where over the years we have collected a lot of “airplane books.” Find your favorite author and feel free to take one or two unfinished books with you when you leave, or leave ones you have finished for the next bookworm to discover. The living room has a desk with DSL (plug in or wireless) and a flat screen television cable TV with capability for recording programs. We also provide unlimited long distance telephone service to the US and Canada.<br /><br />The modern kitchen has a disposal, dishwasher, full size oven, gas range, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and toaster oven. Most of our guests like to eat outside on the spacious lanai. There is a gas BBQ grill and we provide the propane.<br /><br />In addition to dining, on the lanai you can read, sleep, or watch the honu (green sea turtles) swimming in the sheltered lagoon or sunning themselves on the beach right in front of you. The lagoon is great for a dip at high tide, or if you like to snorkel, you can cruise around looking at the amazing variety of reef fish and sea creatures. It is a great place for kids to learn to swim. Outside the lagoon, schools of dolphins go by just about every day. In the winter, humpback whales are often seen just past the rocks. It is fun to watch them spout, or if you are lucky, see them breach.<br /><br />The three bedrooms (and two of the bathrooms) are located upstairs. At night the sound of the ocean lulls you to sleep on the beds with comfortable mattresses. We are pleased to use 100% cotton, high-thread count sheets. All bathrooms are furnished with thick, luxurious towels and roomy showers. One bathroom also has a tub.<br /><br />There is more information on the konabeachhouses website.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />You will have full use of this house, the yard, the beach and the lagoon.
