Twin Hearts is a unique, comfortable, private, and very well located accommodation on acreage within walking distance of a lovely beach. Kilauea town, with restaurants and shopping, is just 10 minutes away by car.<br /><br />Its many amenities include a hot tub, tandem kayak, beach towels, high speed internet (by Kauai standards), cable TV, Weber gas grill, and so much more.<br /><br />Twin Hearts is a legal, permitted "homestay", Class IV Zoning Permit Z-IV-2015-35, Use Permit U-2015-34, Special Permit SP-2015-12.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />"Twin Hearts" is a beautiful, private cottage within walking distance of lovely Kahili-Quarry Beach. It is well-located on a 7.6 acre property just 5 minutes from historic Kilauea Town. If looking at a map, very near to the Kilauea Lighthouse, northernmost point in Kauai.<br /><br />Hot tub, kitchen, cable TV, WiFi...a comfortable and welcoming home to return to after your explorations of this magical island.<br /><br />Bookings at Twin Hearts include a tandem kayak, perfect for jungle river explorations. We provide soft racks and tie-downs to make transporting the kayak a breeze.<br /><br />I offer personalized farm tours for $100 per hour for up to 4 guests, by appointment only. As a near 40 year resident farmer here on Kauai, I offer lots of insight to sub-tropical agriculture.<br /><br />That said, despite our best effort to provide amenities to our guests, we, like anyone else, occasionally experience an outage of one sort or other. We make our best efforts to make things right and get issues repaired as quickly as possible. If one amenity is unavailable for more than half of your stay, we will refund, through the Airbnb resolution system, an amount equal to 20% of the amount paid to us by Airbnb. If two or more amenities become unavailable for more than half of your stay, we will refund an additional 20% for each unavailable amenity. Refunds of this sort are, thankfully, rare. :)<br /><br />We recently had a guest arrive in a Tesla electric vehicle and used our 110v outlet to charge the car while parked. If you come with an electric car and wish to plug into our 110V outlet (220V is not available) there will be an additional fee levied of $10 per day, payable in cash. I am sorry, we cannot offer free fuel, electric or otherwise. <br /><br />Because many guests have found difficulty renting a nice car on Kauai at a reasonable cost, we often offer a rental car. a Ford Escape SUV, regularly cleaned and serviced, with COLD AC that we make available to our guests at reasonable rates. <br /><br />A rental car is by far the best way to get around and explore Kauai. If this possibility has interest, please inquire, after you book the cottage.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />Guests are welcome to wander around the farm from 8am to 6pm, as long as they follow these rules:<br /><br />1) Never stand below one of our few coconut trees, or under the tall albezia trees down by the stream at the bottom of the property. Falling coconuts and albezia branches present a real danger.<br />2) Do not approach any buildings other than your accommodation unless invited to do so.<br />3) Do not engage our workers in conversation. We understand the importance or providing an alternative to crowded hotels or the risks of dining in jam packed restaurants. What better way to travel safely than renting your very own cottage on acreage.<br /><br />We occasionally offer the use of a car, with LIH airport pick-up and drop-off for an additional fee.
