Just minutes to a beautiful beach, surfing, golfing & our quaint, charming downtown with its fine & casual dining & boutique shops! Approximately a 20 minute walk to the world famous Monterey Bay Aquarium & historic Cannery Row in Monterey. This 3 bedroom, 2 bath remodeled Victorian cottage is located in one of Pacific Grove's most historic & enchanting neighborhoods in the heart of Pacific Grove. Our neighborhood offers a peaceful refuge away from big city life with charming Victorian houses tucked along the tree-lined avenue. While maintaining its exterior historic Victorian charm with traditional porch & gingerbread detailing, the cottage interior has been updated/modernized to provide a warm & welcoming home away from home for our guests to enjoy while in beautiful Pacific Grove. <br /><br />Enter up a few steps off the sidewalk to the covered front porch which provides the ideal perch for two or four to welcome the morning sunrise while enjoying your morning coffee & observing deer grazing across the street. Just inside you enter into the open floor plan cottage which is composed of cozy main living room featuring the original river rock fireplace, the heart of the home for gathering around with family & friends. The corner reading nook is furnished with large chair/ottoman & a favorite spot to sit & unwind after a long day of adventuring with a favorite beverage & a good book. A comfortable Pottery Barn down-filled couch & two matching oversized comfy chairs along with a occasional chair create a cozy ensemble in the living area. A living room sofa table, a small chest with T.V. atop complete the furnishings. Dining area seats six & kitchen peninsula has seating for three. All new appliances in kitchen & well-stocked pantry with essentials is ideal for cooking meals at home. <br /><br />Bedrooms: Our cottage sleeps six comfortably in four beds; 1 king in spacious primary bedroom at end of hallway, two twins in middle bedroom & one queen bed down hallway. Secondary bedrooms are smaller but suitable to accommodate 2 guests in each room. Below see descriptions of each bedroom & bathroom accommodation. Sofa in living room NOT intended for sleeping additional overnight guests.<br /><br />We welcome visitors of all ages & strive to achieve a comfortable balance of comfort, style & practicality in setting up our property for all to enjoy. We welcome young families to take advantage of family friendly Caledonia Park just across the one-way street from "Mainstay Cottage" & an easy stroll to a lovely Lover’s Point beach known locally as “baby beach” with a seasonal pool nearby open in summer season for children. Quaint downtown historic Pacific Grove is just a short block away. If you are visiting with toddlers, please be aware that while we are not strictly a "child proof" environment, we do offer outlet covers, sliding cabinet locks, two Regalo guard rails for both twin beds (can offer two Regalo children's camp cots upon request). We also offer a new child's booster chair, a travel "Guava" style portble crib for infants (up to 12 months), & a toddler table/chair set for your use if requested. We keep clutter to a minimum so parents can relax & hope we have succeeded in creating a flexible environment that is warm & inviting for everyone. **Please note as the cottage is a historic home built at the turn of the century with off street entry staircase & an interior hallway which does not accommodate wheelchair access, the property is not handicap accessible.<br /><br />Bedroom #1: A high-quality organic Queen Monterey Mattress & designer linens, two bedside tables w/reading lamps, 3-drawer chest of drawers & spacious double mirrored sliding closets provide generous personal storage (Guest “Hotel” robes provided). A cozy, comfortable space for a single person or a couple. South-facing windows look out to a lovely neighboring garden view & easy access to full bath just across hall.<br /><br />Bedroom #2: The room is decorated in a blue & white nautical theme with warm butter yellow walls & natural light from two large windows with privacy blinds. It can accommodate two children or two solo travelers & is furnished with identical twin beds with Pottery Barn headboards, new comfortable mattresses ( bed guards available upon request for young children) each with high-end custom down comforters & high-quality linens. A center bedside table with reading lamp, a 5-drawer chest & cozy reading chair complete the room. Double mirrored closets for personal storage, guest “Hotel” robes available. A shared full bath is just across the hallway. <br /><br />A Full bath is centrally located in the hallway just across from the two secondary bedrooms offering tub/shower combo (with handhelds), Kohler elongated toilet, a single sink in vanity cabinet with storage beneath & two upper drawers for personal storage. Shampoo, conditioner & body wash along with hair dryers & quality bath towels are provided. Full size side by side washer/dryer (with laundry supplies) enclosed in hallway area across from two secondary bedrooms. <br /><br />Bedroom #3: <br />At end of hallway, a spacious primary bedroom offers a very quiet & private space for a relaxing sleep. It is furnished with high quality, comfortable Eastern king bed with quality designer linens, bedside tables w/reading lamps, desk with small chair, large custom 8-drawer chest with T.V. enclosed above. A mirrored spacious, single closet for personal belongings with Hotel guest robes completes the room. Privacy blinds at windows & a single French door lead out to patio area. Private ensuite full bath with single glass-enclosed shower stall, elongated Kohler toilet, bath cabinet with sink, two drawers & full cabinet storage beneath. Quality towels, bath soaps, shampoo/conditioner, hair dryers provided.<br />Just off the kitchen back door is the flower-filled gated & private side patio with small wall fountain & new Weber gas Barbeque. A small patio table seats two along with two side Adirondack chairs for a relaxing space to unwind & enjoy a quiet space at the end of the day. Two additional chairs on side porch are available to accommodate a group of six in patio area.<br /><br />Family Activities: Lover's Point Beach & Park is approximately a two minute walk from the cottage & offers abundant activities for people of all ages & interests. Low tide offers a special opportunity to explore our fragile & magical sea coast & enjoy up close our precious marine life at the shoreline. Local parents with their toddlers in tow frequently congregate across the street at Caledonia Park to visit, picnic & socialize together while their kids enjoy the slides, swings & climbing equipment. As it has long been a favorite place for family reunions, birthday parties & especially the holiday festivities that occur throughout the year for all to enjoy.<br /><br />The ballpark & basketball court at the far end of the park offers the older kids & adults something to do near by. Outdoor sports & recreational activities are just a short walk away at Lover's Point Beach at Adventures By The Sea which offer rentals for biking, water sports & even surreys. <br /><br />The world-renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium & Cannery Row is about a 20 minutes walk along the spectacular recreation trail for a memorable day of exploring our beautiful area with so much to do for the whole family.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />The Cottage is accessed from street level with steps up to the covered front porch & front door so please be aware that there are several stairs. Once inside, the floor plan is open & single level throughout. The living, dining & kitchen areas are at the front of the property & the bedrooms & baths are down the hall to back of property well off the street for a quiet, peaceful retreat. The back/side patio area is right out the kitchen door for convenient access to barbequing & al fresco dining at the small table with seating for two.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />The garbage is collected every week early on Tuesday mornings so please empty all inside garbage & recycle into the outside refuge cans behind house on Monday afternoon so we can collect them & take to the curb for early Tuesday morning collection. The empty cans will be returned to their place behind the cottage on Tuesday. Every third Wednesday of the month, the street cleaners ask for cars to be moved to the park side of the street for early morning street cleaning. These details will be in the notebook.
