Retreat to Io's Nest (named after the Hawaiian hawk residing near by), a studio apartment tucked away on a vibrant and lush coffee farm in Captain Cook! You've a private bath, Kitchenette and king size bed. Fruits, vegetables, coffee, and herbs galore. A wonderful sweetheart escape for the adventurous, set just 2 miles from Kealakekua Bay a marine preserve with spectacular snorkeling and hiking. And 2.5 miles from the City of refuge. The perfect headquarters for your Big Island explorations.

The space
Our small coffee farm is verdant and alive with the sounds of birds through the day, and coqui frogs at night. During the week there might be farm noises, as we work cultivating our coffee. Your space is located above our workshops and it is very private and quiet. In addition to a screen in lanai kitchenette, there is a large private roof top deck with huge jungle, mountain and ocean views. Great for morning cup of coffee, yoga or evening sunset glass of wine.
The kitchenette is well equipped with fridge, Cuisinart toaster oven, pots and pans and double burner propane stove -all you’ll need to make a meal.
WE HAVE BEEN ALSO FILLING POT Holes ON OUR RD, SINCE THE RAINS WASHED SOME OUT. Please be advised that Coffee Estate rd is rough and our guest should (depending on their driving ability) drive high clearance vehicle to aces our property. Our friends have no problem coming over in their passenger cars.

Guest access
We recommend high clearance vehicle for the Big island in general, you will be able to explore more remote locations and thus will have more fun. To access Io’s Nest high clearance vehicle is recommended, but not necessary. The dirt rd is rough, but our guests typically have no problem accessing our property, even in a sedan.
Parking on the property is free. Parking is available on top of the driveway parallel to other cars parked there.

Other things to note
Points off interest near to Hale 'Io
Puuhonua'o'honaunau City of refuge - State historic park
Two step beach (amazing snorkeling)
Kahaluu beach (great snorkeling for all)
Captain Cook monument hike trail head
Manini Beach Kealakekua Bay marine preserve (snorkeling)
Greenwell coffee farm (for guided tours and coffee purchase)

Grocery: Choice mart (1.4 miles)
KTA grocery (2.5 mikes)
Kona Community Hospital (3.2 miles)
Kona International Airport (21.1 miles)
Kailua kona town (20 minutes)

Black Rock Pizza (1.5 miles away)
Gipsea Gelato (13 minutes)
Hotel Manago for great pork chops and opakapaka fish

Saturday - Keauhou farmers market (7 miles)
Sunday Farmers in Captain cook for great street tacos and live music.
