No shared walls, no shared entrance, no shared living space.

About the second unit on the property
There's a small, fully detached apartment on the far side of our two-car garage. We rent it separately — mostly to hikers tackling the Kalalau Trail along the Nā Pali Coast. That means our apartment guests are typically out before sunrise and back late in the evening, dusty and ready for bed; most main-house guests barely notice they're there. The apartment has its own entrance, its own outdoor space, and its own side of the driveway, so your side of the property stays completely private.

Parking (important — please read)
The driveway is split down the middle:

Right side = your parking — easily fits 2 full-size vehicles
Left side = apartment guests only — please do not park on this side under any circumstances, even briefly. It is their only vehicle access.

A heads-up about the rest of Princeville: HOA rules prohibit street parking anywhere in the community. Cars left roadside can be ticketed during the day and booted overnight, so always use your designated side of the driveway.
Getting in

Self check-in via lockbox — arrive on your own schedule
Check-in window: 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM
Checkout: by 10:00 AM
Lockbox code and detailed arrival instructions sent the day before

Your neighborhood — yours to explore
You landed in one of the most walkable neighborhoods on the island. Step outside and you're directly across from Princeville Center:

Grocery store and Ace Hardware
Yoga and spin studios
Salons, restaurants, and a coffee shop
Lappert's — famous for Hawaiian-made ice cream
Weekend artisan fairs, farmers markets, and live music

A block away:

Community playground
Library hosting talks on local flora and fauna
Community center with tai chi classes and slack key guitar concerts — the kind of thing you stumble into and end up loving

Trails from the neighborhood
Walking trails right from the property lead to:

Anini Beach
Hideaways
Queen's Bath
Hanalei (when the river and tide are low)

…with bird's-eye views of mountains and ocean along the way that will stop you in your tracks.

Other things to note
We are fortunate to have some of the best weather in the world, but Kauai is called the Garden Island for a reason — it does rain here. Check the weather reports and stay flexible with your plans. If you don't like the weather, wait five minutes — that's what the locals say, and it's usually true. On the occasional rainy day, the house is a wonderful place to relax with 2,100 square feet of space, Wi-Fi and plenty of places to just sit and read.

Internet and cell service can be intermittent on the North Shore. As a family of four, we've worked and studied remotely from this home for many years, and it works well overall — but this is one of the most remote island chains in the world, so occasional drops happen.

A note about the ocean: it can be very powerful here, especially during winter months. If the waves are big, please keep your distance. If you're unsure about conditions, ask a lifeguard or stay out of the water. Please use only reef-safe sunscreen — our reefs are precious.

Princeville has quiet hours after 10 PM and its own 24-hour security. We welcome small, considerate gatherings but cannot accommodate large parties. Full-time residents live in the homes adjacent to the property, and we appreciate your cooperation in maintaining a peaceful environment for everyone.

We don't issue refunds for weather, intermittent connectivity, or ocean conditions — these are part of island life and beyond anyone's control. Please come with flexibility and an adventurous spirit.
We trust you'll have an incredible time visiting one of the most beautiful places in the world. Enjoy our beloved hale — from our ohana to yours.

Registration Details
540240110000, TA-183-083-0080-01
