Located on the beautiful East side of the Big Island. This 1880 sq/ft (Includes open BBQ area, 2nd bath, washroom & open space downstairs) home. It sits on an acre lot surrounded by ohia trees, wild orchids & hapu'u ferns. This property is located in a residential neighborhood for you to conveniently explore the East side including several black sand beaches, hikes to tide pools & waterfalls near Hilo & Volcanoes National Park. Birds songs can be heard in the day & coqui frog chirps at night.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />The Bird's Nest is located in a neighborhood surrounded by Ohia trees, wild orchids & hapu'u ferns and sits high above the ground which makes it feel as if you are staying in a tree house. There area also seasonal fruit such as guava & avocados on the property that are guests are welcome to. The neighborhood is peaceful with bird songs that can be heard throughout the day & tree frogs at night.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />We are located 15 minutes from Hilo & airport, 5 miles from Pahoa and 4 miles from the ocean and cliffs to walk along. Volcano National Park is a 30 minute drive and we are about a 1 1/2 hour drive over the Saddle Road to white sandy beaches.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />There shall be no refunds of rental payments due to shortened stays or ruined expectations because of weather conditions, observation of insects or pests, coqui frog chirps (Occurs at night) tenant work demands or family emergencies whether they are inside or outside the State of Hawaii.<br /><br />We recommend getting Travel Insurance prior to your trip.<br /><br />There is a twin day bed with twin trundle located in the living room available for use if there are more than 4 people staying at The Bird's Nest.<br /><br />Access to the downstairs bathroom by using the stairs off the outdoor deck. Living space is upstairs, while the second bathroom & grill area is downstairs (Note that you will be walking downstairs in an open breezeway which is all under the same roof).<br /><br />There is a water catchment system that runs it's water through a UV filter through the entire home and is fresh, clean & drinkable so no purchasing of bottled water is necessary.<br /><br />There is a propane grill down stairs for grilling purposes.<br /><br />We will start you with a paper towel roll & toilet paper.<br /><br />***We love children, however, please make sure you help them to respect our property that we have put much love into.<br /><br />***We have coqui frogs in our neighborhood (Generally island wide) with sing song calls at night. If this is something that might bother you, we have earplugs for you to use at night.
