Wild and lovely, not far from town. Three blocks from the ocean cliffs that form this part of wild Hawaii. Can hear the waves crashing. Two cats live here. The house is just 45 minutes from Shipman Beach along a beautiful coastal hike. You have a full house to yourself with three bedrooms, gourmet kitchen, great room, hot tub etc. Close to Hilo and half an hour from lower Puna and lava viewing. 45 minutes from the National Park and the volcano. 2 hours from Kona. May have car for rent if needed.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />This is a beautiful quiet area of east Hawaii 25 minutes from the Hilo airport and literally three blocks from the ocean, with the waves audibly crashing in the distance. The ocean here is mostly 20 foot high cliffs (NOT A BEACH) but there are some natural steps you can clamber down to dip your toe in the ocean if you're adventurous (I don't advise getting in the water here as it can be quite dangerous). The nearest beaches for kids are in Hilo about half an hour away. There's also a great clothing optional beach (Kehena) 45 minutes south.<br /><br />Cat lovers only need apply to stay here :) This is my house where I live normally (when I travel I rent out the house) and I have two cats you will be responsible for feeding during your stay. <br /><br />This is a great place for remote work with reliable high speed Internet and a large mango wood table on the front screened-in lanai that can be used as an office space. There's also a lovely kitchen island that can also be a workstation or just a nice hangout spot. <br /><br />It's also a truly green house, with rainwater catchment (fully filtered of course) and solar for power. It's grid-tied solar, so very reliable with grid backup. <br /><br />There are three bedrooms and each of the additional bedrooms have their own separate entrances. This area is really special, a sanctuary. In the evenings, night time and mornings it's so quiet and peaceful, with nothing but the birds, wind, waves and coqui frogs (which can be loud at night when you're not used to them). Truly magical to have this kind of environment to wake up to. <br /><br />There's an inviting four person hot tub and deck, made of almost all local materials, which is a real highlight of this house. <br /><br />I also have a 2024 Tesla Model 3 all-electric car, which gets 248 miles per charge, and a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder that seats up to 7 people, that you may be able to rent (the cars are NOT included in the house rental) if you need a car for your stay.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />You can check in and out whenever you like and come and go as you choose.
