Stay at what our neighbors call “The Painted Castle” or "The Manorhouse" at Orchid Isle Manor; former home of local artist Stephanie Bolton, designed by the celebrated architect Skip Goodell.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />This is a hosted rental<br /><br />THE MANORHOUSE <br />This is an old quirky eclectic three level home with spiral staircase and tall ceilings on a serene 5 acre estate in the Kona Coffee country. It has a big country kitchen fun for cooking meals together, a library/game room, a sunset dining lanai for up to 12 people and living room with wood burning fireplace. <br /><br />ORCHID ISLE MANOR<br />The Manorhouse is just one building among others on this property. The homeowners and their children reside here as well, creating artwork and teaching classes. A movement studio is on site where guests may enjoy some of movement classes if they wish (some other classes may be private or open to join at the teacher's fee) or you can rent this space at an additional fee by the hour for your own use. <br />This 5 acre estate also has 4 detached rooms we call "Cottages", each with a private bathroom and kitchenette that may also be rented out to other guests, allowing you to maybe make some friends with other travelers during your stay. <br />If you prefer to be the only lodging guests on site, you may be able to rent all of the lodging space through the listing called simply "Orchid Isle Manor" and double your space for a total of 8 rooms on the same property. Check this listing or send an inquiry to see if all of the rooms are available during your desired dates.<br /><br />RAIN CATCHMENT HOME<br />Please be aware that this home has no access to county water and catches rain limiting our water supply, meaning we cannot provide laundry facilities or services to guests ...no worries: guests recommend Tyke's laundromat which is not far away and has a convenient drop off service if you'll be needing laundry service during your stay. <br /><br />ABOUT YOUR HOSTS<br />The homeowners who built this unique space from dirt to what you experience now reside on this property and raised their 3 sons here. Matthew and Stephanie have grown up in Kona and are open to sharing helpful advice if you are curious about things to do or places to go during your visit. Their family of 4 generations in Hawaii have one of the largest award-winning Kona coffee plantations on the island (be sure to try the family's coffee!). We are quite active in our community and you may discover many locals are familiar with your hosts by name.<br /><br />OUR FAVORITE GUESTS<br />We realize that not everyone finds our property to be the perfect fit so please feel welcome to ask any questions you may have before booking to make sure this place is the right spot for you. We appreciate considerate guests who respect our home by communicating when anything needs our attention directly, as opposed to reporting any endured discomfort online after they have silently left. We are constantly improving our home and sincerely happy to help you have the most pleasant and enchanting stay possible when given the opportunity. <br />....We especially enjoy meeting other dancers, artists, writers, & mermaids so be sure to mention if you are a kindred spirit! ;-)<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />The Mermaid Lagoon hot tub is a shared space for all of our residents and guests to enjoy between 6-9pm (heated upon request).<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />We also have 4 cottages available to rent on site. They may be rented out to other guests during your stay. <br />Or you can rent 1-4 of them to increase your capacity by up to 16 additional beds. Each is a studio & has a kitchenette & bathroom, patio with bbq & can sleep 5-6 people.<br /><br />There is a dance/yoga studio also on site. There may be classes held here during your stay or you may arrange private classes for your group- you can also choose to rent the studio to be a movement or classroom space for your group.
