Our cozy Studio Unit 1 offers a peaceful country retreat just 20 minutes from Hilo International Airport. Nestled in a quiet rural neighborhood, this private studio is the perfect home base for exploring the island while enjoying the tranquility of country living.<br /><br />The studio features a comfortable queen-size bed, complimentary Wi-Fi, a large picture window, and a convenient kitchenette equipped with a microwave, coffee maker, bowls, cups, and utensils. We also provide fresh towels, face towels, hand towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to help make your stay comfortable.<br /><br />Our property is located on a water catchment system, which is common in many rural areas of Hawaii. While the tap water is not potable, we provide a filtered drinking water station for guests to use throughout their stay.<br />This studio is one of two separate Airbnb units located behind our garage. <br /><br />Also, the water pump is located near this studio. When water is in use, you will hear the pump turn on and run briefly as part of normal operation.<br /><br />Most guests find the sound minimal and easy to get used to, but we like to mention it ahead of time so there are no surprises during your stay. It’s simply part of how the system functions and not a cause for concern. <br /><br />Guests access the studios through a breezeway between our home and the garage. While we may not always be home, we are readily available if you need assistance during your stay and are happy to help whenever needed.<br /><br />The surrounding area is known for its peaceful country atmosphere. You may occasionally see horses, cows, goats, or sheep in the neighborhood, adding to the charm of rural island life. Our neighborhood is quiet and relaxing, making it an ideal place to unwind and recharge.<br /><br />The road to our property is paved, though there is a short section that can be a bit rocky. It is easily accessible with a standard vehicle; we simply ask guests to drive slowly and carefully.<br /><br />To help preserve the peaceful nature of our neighborhood, we kindly ask guests to respect our neighbors by keeping noise levels low. Parties and loud gatherings are not permitted.<br /><br />Whether you're visiting the Big Island for adventure, work, or relaxation, our country studio offers a comfortable and peaceful place to call home during your stay.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />Guests are welcome to enjoy their private studio unit and the grassy outdoor areas surrounding the property. The sounds of nature are part of everyday life here, including the nightly songs of coqui frogs, which many visitors come to recognize as part of the island experience.<br /><br />Because we are located in a rural area surrounded by nature, you may occasionally encounter tropical insects or wildlife such as ants, geckos (small lizards), or other common island critters. While we regularly maintain and clean the property, these occasional visitors are a normal part of life in Hawaii and cannot be completely eliminated, especially in country settings.<br /><br />We encourage guests to keep doors and windows closed when not in use and to enjoy the unique beauty and natural environment that make Hawaii so special.<br /><br />For your convenience, there is a nearby convenience store that is typically open until around 8:00 PM. If you happen to forget an item before arriving, it's a great place to pick up drinks, snacks, and basic necessities. They also offer a small selection of hot food items. While it's not a full grocery store, it can be very helpful for those last-minute needs.
