This grand 1908 home is the epitome of sophistication, close to The Presidio, Fillmore, and Laurel Village shops and restaurants. It is filled with classic details and luxury amenities, two gardens, and fabulous cooking and entertaining spaces. It is ideal for corporate team-building, adult family gatherings, and deluxe getaways with friends.

The space
This is an historic 1908 home in the Mediterranean style, designed by Carl Mueseldorffer, a noted SF architect. It was the home of Senator Dianne Feinstein when she was Mayor of San Francisco, and was featured in Architectural Digest when it was owned by top-tier interior designer Suzanne Tucker. (Because it is made of aged wood, we do not allow smoking, vaping, or use of candles! Many smoke and carbon monoxide sensors, though.) Rooms have high ceilings and lovely molding and detailing. It is filled with art and books which you are welcome to peruse. It is designed to be warm and inviting, but still refined. I hope you enjoy the space as much as our family and friends have.

When the house is rented, I live in a separate apartment in the basement with its own entrance. I have a Bengal cat who lives downstairs (that's a type of kitty, not a tiger); while we thoroughly clean and she does not come upstairs, if you have severe cat allergies this is probably not ideal for you. Parking is in the driveway, with a second spot blocking the driveway if you need. But Uber/Lyft come instantly, and since parking throughout the City is difficult and expensive, that might be a better option for getting around with ease.

Guest access
The entire main house will be entirely yours -- I live in a separate maid's apartment in the basement with a separate entrance. The spacious chef's kitchen is well stocked with equipment and supplies and a large dining area, and the gracious dining room comfortably seats twelve. There are three bedrooms plus private professor's study with a rollaway bed on the second floor, and two airy bedrooms and a media/sleeping room with two large sofas and a full-sizsed sofabed on the third floor. Note that there are three full bathrooms adjacent to bedrooms and two half baths on the main floor, so if every bedroom is occupied the upstairs bathrooms will be shared amongst your guests. A deck on the back overlooks the terraced garden, and a welcoming English garden in front is a perfect venue for cocktails or a contemplative moment.

Other things to note
This is a house best suited for responsible adults. If you can play the Steinway grand piano you are encouraged, but please keep from banging on the keys. We try to keep everything safe but there are not child locks on the cupboards or babyproof fixtures.
Also note that there is ample wifi for your streaming but we do not subscribe to any television or cable service. There is a large monitor in the media room with a chromecast that you can hook up to your computer. Also a huge selection of DVDs and a DVD player in the media room. And more books than you can ever read.
There is a honey beehive in the lower back garden. They are fascinating to watch from the deck and are very docile as long as you stay approximately 6 feet away from their hive. In five years, I have had one bee sting, and that was my fault. They do not approach the upper deck or front garden.
When you are not renting and we live in the house, our cat lives in the basement. While we vacuum and thoroughly clean before every visit, it is not a good choice for those with highly sensitive cat allergies.
Well-behaved dogs are occasionally allowed on a case-by-case basis, by agreement in writing prior to your booking. Dogs are only allowed in the very large kitchen area and back deck, there are pet gates which contain them. They are not allowed in the living or dining room, on the upholstery, furniture, upstairs, or in the bedrooms. Pets need to be walked outside the front of the house, not in the garden, and their waste picked up after by their owner every time. We ask for an additional $250 cleaning fee plus $100 per night extra to do a deep cleaning after your stay, as the next guest may have allergies.

San Francisco has very strict short-term rental requirements for hosts, and I am fully compliant and in good standing as a Superhost. My Registration Number is STR-0004124. As part of this compliance, I am required to post the followingL "Possession of a San Francisco Short-Term Rental Registration Certificate, which certifies that the registration certificate holder has agreed to comply with the terms of the San Francisco Short-Term Residential Rental Ordinance (San Francisco Administrative Code Section 41A.) This ordinance does not require a inspection of the unit by the City for potential Building, Housing, Fire, or other Code violations."

Thank you for considering a stay at our Classic Elegance Residence in Pacific Heights!

Registration Details
STR-0004124
