It is the real Hawai'i and has urban, everyday characteristics that differ from what one might find in Kona's resort areas. There is a set of stairs to the porch entry from the parking lot, and then 25 steps to reach the apartment on the second floor.<br /><br />Also note that this apartment does not have air conditioning. Like many older homes and apartments in Hawai'i, it relies on natural ventilation and the breeze from Hilo's trade winds and I include extra fans for guest comfort.
