In the winter whale watching on the cliffs is a popular local past time. <br /><br />We provide a couple of snorkel and masks, beach chairs and for serious Game people; Backgammon, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit. We have plenty of Hawaii based books. <br /><br /> Keaa'u and Pahoa town have restaurants, grocery store, farmer markets, and THE NEW Puna Kai Shopping Center. Kaleo's Restaurant is 6 min drive up the road. On Sundays, Maku'u Market is awesome. A NEW deli ‘Keaau Deli’ is amazing for sandwiches and many vegetarian as well to choose from; soups, drinks, and more.<br /><br />About the property: On Beach Road. 1.5 acre. Gated Home. Lock Box for keys and a gate remote control for you to open and close gate as you come and go.. A Gate Remote will be provided upon checking into the unit.<br /><br />Park on the left in front of outside patio table and red umbrella.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />The amazing trail to Haena/Shipman is rewarding, turtles and a beach. It is very popular but it is a good 1 plus hour each way, enjoy the trail, the old walls built by the people of old hawaii, RESPECT the land and trail, the beach and the turtles. Keep vehicle safe in gated yard, walk to the start of trail. 1+Hour in and 1+Hour out, appx.. ***There is NO map, you would follow other trailer blazers to get to the Beach***As well, following the trails straight towards the ocean will get you to the point/cliffs***Suggest proper reef walking shoes or shoes for trails, take plenty water and mosquito repellant. OR - want a simple walk to the point, appx 6 -10min.
