This quaint & private little cottage is in the Kaloko native Hawaiian forest of Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Less than 15 minutes from Kona Airport & less than 15 minutes from town (6.7 miles). Not located in town. Elevation is approx. 2200 ft above sea level. Great if you are looking to experience a tropical forest. Due to severe allergies we are unable to host any animals. Not suitable for children. Must use phone navigation to locate as we are in a rural area :)<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />This is a small studio cottage (12 ft x 12 ft bedroom) with a private attached bathroom and queen size bed located on a property surrounded by native Hawaiian forest, alive with birdsong and sounds of nature. <br />Designated free parking directly outside of cottage. Cottage located beyond a gated entrance in a very safe & lovely neighborhood. <br /> Main house, which is occupied by host is on same property (within close proximity). Please see aerial listing photos to understand the proximity of cottage to main house & the guest area. <br /> Cottage has a mini refrigerator, microwave, electric water kettle, toaster, coffee maker & a rice pot (not a full kitchen). Kitchen sink is located on the lanai (porch).<br /> Please note that no more than 2 persons would fit comfortably in this space. It is great for a couple (someone you are used to sharing a space with).<br />Separate listing that sleeps 4 is also available on the same property. <br /> When booking please keep in mind the size of the cottage and if it will meet your needs. <br /> Cottage is not suitable for children due to the fact that it is not childproofed & has many breakable items. It's a quiet neighborhood & out of respect for our neighbors have set our listing as an adults only accommodation. We thank you for your understanding :) <br /> Most guests say it works well for them b/c they’re just looking for a place to sleep, shower and are planning to be out & about exploring most of the day. <br /> We often do yard work on weekends & holidays. If you are a light sleeper you may hear my husband leaving for work in the early morning. <br /> <br /> We do not allow the use of space heaters due to the potential fire hazard. Early morning temperatures usually range between 55-65 degrees Fahrenheit (depending on time of year & if there’s snow on the mountain). <br /><br /> If you are looking for a reasonably priced small cottage to have a peaceful sleep then we are hoping our cottage will be perfect for your stay =)<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />Studio cottage (single bedroom) with attached bathroom. Private entrance/ porch. Free parking directly outside. Paved driveway & parking stall designated for cottage guests. Cottage located on a shared private driveway, beyond a gated entrance in a lovely & safe neighborhood.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />Not able to accommodate animals due to severe allergies. <br /> <br />Spouse leaves for work between 4:30-5am, 5-6 days per week, so please be aware that you may hear the diesel truck driving off very early.<br /> <br />The main house, which is occupied by the host, is on the same property and located within close proximity of the cottage (approximately 100 feet).<br /> <br />We do yard work & other property projects on the weekends (and holidays). If you are wanting to sleep in please book for weekdays (rather than the weekends). If you plan on heading off early on adventures then hopefully this wouldn’t be an issue. If you are a light sleeper you may hear him loading up his truck in the carport in the early morning because he is an early riser. <br /> <br />Feel free to enjoy immediate area surrounding cottage. We kindly ask guests to respect hosts privacy & not wander to other areas of property. <br /><br />The driveway between cottage and property gate is a shared private road. In order to respect our neighbor’s privacy we kindly ask you not to walk this shared road. Neighbors properties are to be completely avoided. If you wish to go for a walk we kindly ask you to park your vehicle on the main road (outside of shared property gate) either below or above the gate with enough distance to not block any mailboxes or access needed by others.<br /><br />All Trails App is a frequently used resource to find near by trails, but some trails shown on app may be closed for maintenance or other unknown reasons. <br /><br />We start you off with basic toiletries including shampoo, toilet paper, coffee and other toiletries. Beach towels also provided. There's a screen above the shower (for ventilation) & the bathroom door is louvered, so you will likely hear sounds of nature during the night =)<br /><br />Other personal shopper/ personal assistant services are available for a fee of $40 an hour (1 hr minimum).<br /> <br />TV info: VIZIO D Series 32"Class 720p Full Array LED HD Smart TV D32h-J09<br />TV has several streaming apps but you'll need to sign into your own account (ex: Netflix, Hulu etc). Vizio does now offer some free live channels, however I'm not an expert on Vizio Free Live Streaming & wouldn't be able to guarantee this live streaming feature.<br /><br />Our prices are set by Airbnb by factoring in several things, including comparable listings in our very safe & lovely neighborhood, as well as the time of year.<br /><br />FEES & TAXES on your bill & who they are paid to:<br />The "Property Taxes" shown on your bill are the required by law State Transient Accommodation Tax (TAT), Hawaii County Transient Accommodation Tax HCTAT & State General Excise (GE)Tax. These taxes are considered a pass through tax which are required by law to be paid to the state & county for any transient accommodation which the guest is staying for a period less than 180 consecutive days. These taxes are not part of a host's profit. We kindly ask that if you review our listing to please keep in mind when rating our listing for value that the host profit/earrings are the nightly rate and cleaning fee. <br /><br />The Airbnb “service fee” is not paid to the host. That is the fee the guests pay to Airbnb.
