This former custom home of an Italian contessa offers a truly unique experience. Perfect for families looking to immerse themselves in a piece of real Hawaii, this is the ideal spot for your Big Island vacation. <br /><br />Our private guest apartment is located on the ground floor of our home and offers everything you’ll need for a fun and relaxing stay. It’s a “home-stay” unlike any other in Kona, providing a perfect blend of comfort and island charm. <br /><br />Master Suite: A spacious room with a pillow-top California King bed large closet, and an en suite full bathroom.<br /><br />Second Bedroom: Equipped with two single bed, perfect for children or additional guests.<br /><br />Dining Areas: Enjoy meals inside or outside on your private covered patio (approx. 400 sq. ft.), with both areas offering a tranquil space to relax.<br /><br />Bathrooms: Two full-sized bathrooms, both with tubs and showers, stocked with extra towels, toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, sunscreen, bug spray, etc.)<br /><br />Kitchenette:<br />Your suite includes a fully equipped kitchen with a full-size refrigerator, cooktop, microwave, toaster oven, and other small appliances and essential cookware and utensils. We also provide complimentary Kona coffee, creamer, sugar, and tea bags to start your mornings right.<br /><br />Our home is situated about 900 feet above Kailua-Kona, so we enjoy cooler, comfortable temperatures year-round. While we do not have air conditioning, each room is equipped with a ceiling fan, and extra floor fans are available to ensure your comfort. <br /><br />Guest Amenities<br />👶Baby Gear: Upon request, we can provide a Pack N Play, high chair, and other items to accommodate younger guests. We also have books and toys available for children.<br /><br />🏖️Beach Gear: beach gear includes sand-free towels, snorkels, masks, beach chairs, body boards, sand toys, umbrellas, and coolers. Everything you need for a great day at the beach!<br /><br />🏊‍♂️ Please note that the pool and pool area will be unavailable from January 3 through March 1 2027 while we complete remodeling and improvements to that area of the property.<br /><br />During this time, there may be some construction-related activity limited to the pool and surrounding pool area only. The home itself will not be under construction. To account for the temporary pool closure and related work, our nightly rate has been discounted for stays during this period. We truly appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you to an even better outdoor space once the updates are complete.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />🚪 Private Entrance: Guests will have access to their private rooms through a separate outside sliding door entrance. The door will be unlocked for an easy self-check-in, and the key will be left on the dining table for you.<br /><br />🧺 Laundry Facility: There is a shared laundry area with a full-sized washer and dryer, laundry detergent, drying rack, iron and ironing board, broom, dustpan, and vacuum. This space is shared with the adjacent one-bedroom guest suite.<br /><br />🏊‍♂️ Swimming Pool: Enjoy the saltwater pool! It’s gentler on the skin and eyes. Kids are welcome to swim between 8 AM and sunset. The pool is a common area shared with the owners and other guests.<br /><br />🌳 Grassy Lawn: The grassy area in front of the house is a great place for kids to run around and play 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️.<br /><br />🚗 Parking: Ample parking is available within our property gate. Please refrain from parking on the street. Guest stalls are located on the left side of the driveway upon entry.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />🏠 Home Share: The guest suite is located on the ground floor beneath our living space. We have two school-aged children who start their day early. While the house is well-insulated, you may hear footsteps from above or occasional sounds from our kids. You may also see other guests as there is another guest suite on the property.<br /><br />🦎 Country Living: This is a rural, tropical paradise! Expect to encounter geckos, spiders, insects, and other critters. There’s a nearby pasture where you may hear cows, chickens, frogs, pigs, and birds throughout the day and night. We also have two friendly outdoor cats who may visit during your stay.<br /><br />🌳 Road Access: To reach our home, you’ll drive about 2 miles down a scenic but winding country road with few street lights.<br /><br />❌❄️ No Air Conditioning or BBQ Grill: Please note, we do not offer air conditioning, cable TV, or a BBQ grill. If these are important amenities for you, this may not be the best fit.
