Welcome to locally owned Hale Hoku o Kahalu'u (The Star of Kahalu'u) in Keauhou-Kona. Stay in the Kona vintage "luxe" condo just steps away from Kahalu'u beach park, Hawaii Island's best for snorkeling and surfing. Enjoy nightly sunsets from your private lanai (patio) in this spacious one bedroom, one bath abode. This is the perfect escape for couples seeking a true sense of Kona with a touch of vintage Hawaii just south of town, and close to all the amenities.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />The condo is is conveniently located across the street from the world-famous Kahaluʻu Beach. Park in your designated, covered parking and take the elevator up to to your luxe retreat. The entrance opens up to a hallway with the bedroom to the right with a king bed, ceiling fan, and soft white plantation shutters. The bathroom is accessible from the bedroom and the hallway and has both tub and shower. At the end of the hallway is a spacious kitchen with brand new stove, oven, microwave, and dual-zone wine fridge. There is also a special sink in the Tiki bar that allows for chilling champagne for romantic evenings. The most recent renovations include new floors, tile in shower, and new counters with copper patina backgrounds. Enjoy meals on the lava like counter, or better yet, the lanai where you’ll be greeted with ocean breezes, stunning ocean views, palm trees, and sunsets in the evening. Retreat to the living room, decorated with a vintage and modern artistic touch, including a full entertainment center and 65-inch Smart TV and AC if needed. Filtered water is available at both the Tiki bar and the fridge spigot (inside left) with filtered ice. <br /><br />Before you hit the beach, grab some towels, lounge chairs, umbrella, and boogie boards you’re welcome to use. Please bring your own mask/fins for snorkeling or rent from the many vendors in town or right at the beach.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />You will have access to the entire apartment, the pool and storage locker where you will find beach equipment. There are locked cabinets that the owner uses for storage and maintenance supplies.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />Taxes: All taxes are included in the price you pay. This includes both General Excise and Transient Accommodations Taxes. Taxes amount to just under 16%. <br /><br />Bugs... Hawaii is a tropical location where there are usual bug sitings that may be uncommon where you live. In order to manage bugs, the condo association funds regular quarterly spraying. Some times that may occur when you are in the apartment. I wanted you to be aware that they will come in and leave within usually 5 minutes. The front door, when locked, is not accessible to the management, so they will knock if you are there, so you can let them in.<br /><br />Oven: since summer of 2025 I have done my best to search for an oven that will fit the wall opening (the joys of vintage designs). After five attempts, I’m not giving up, but I still have not had success so I regret to inform all guests that there is no oven for the time being.
