The yard, blue deck, pond, and outdoor lounge areas are shared with the two neighboring cottages.<br /><br />The shared spaces are part of the charm here. A lovely fit if you enjoy saying hello, swapping island tips, and meeting fellow travelers while still having your own private cottage to return to.<br /><br />If you prefer a fully private resort-style stay with no shared outdoor areas, this may not be the best fit.<br /><br />☀︎ FRUIT TREES ☀︎<br /><br />Fruit trees on the property include tangerines, coconuts, ulu/breadfruit, lychee, bananas, and mulberries. Guests are welcome to pick and enjoy them when they are in season.<br /><br />☀︎ RURAL HAWAII NOTES ☀︎<br /><br />This is a rural Hamakua Coast cottage, not a hotel or resort.<br /><br />You may hear roosters, wild chickens, birds, and coqui frogs, especially around sunrise and after dusk. Small geckos may occasionally appear indoors, as is common in rural Hawaii.<br /><br />The area is lush, green, and tropical because it gets frequent passing rain. Expect nature, humidity, trade winds, and the peaceful country setting that makes this part of the island special.<br /><br />☀︎ WATER ☀︎<br /><br />The cottage uses treated rainwater catchment, which is common in rural parts of Hawaii Island.<br /><br />Many guests prefer bottled drinking water, so we recommend bringing some with you.<br /><br /><br />☀︎ NEARBY ☀︎<br /><br />Papaaloa Country Store, Cafe, and Bar is just down the road, with hot food, drinks, supplies, and live music. Please check their hours online, as they can change.<br /><br />Hilo town and Hilo Airport are about 30 minutes away.<br /><br />This part of the Hamakua Coast is known for ocean views, waterfalls, scenic drives, cliffs, and lush greenery. Hawaii does not have any poisonous creatures not even snakes!
