This lovely 1906 Edwardian in lively, quaint Elmwood is ideal as a quiet home base with easy access to shops, UC Berkeley and San Francisco. It is full of original architectural details with a spacious modern kitchen and a lush backyard and deck. It is an ideal setup for an extended family, including a master bedroom, two children's bedrooms and a garden cottage with a queen/split-twin trundle bed.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />The home itself is beautiful - full of original architectural details, including hardwood floors, built-in cabinets and pocket doors. The spacious modern kitchen flows out onto the deck, which has a gas grill and large table for summer dining. The deck connects the two side yards. The deck and backyard are surrounded by greenery that make the house feel very private and peaceful, especially given the three-block walk to restaurants and shops.<br /><br />The indoor dining room, connected to the kitchen, is great for entertaining or after-dinner game time. The living and dining rooms provide plenty of space for separate activities – checking email, reading, or watching movies. There is also a full office with views out to the garden and redwoods.<br /><br />The master suite, with queen bed, has a luxurious, full-tub bathroom surrounded by windows onto redwoods - your retreat in the trees. The children’s bedrooms have single beds. The full bathroom for the children is in the hallway outside those rooms. <br /><br />The garden cottage has a queen/split-twin trundle bed and a half bathroom. It is also well set up for use as a second office, and includes a home gym. Since the addition of the home gym, the sleeping space is minimalist. You'll want to socialize and relax with your book in the living room in the main house. <br /><br />There is a third full bathroom downstairs, off of the fully-equipped laundry room, which adjoins the kitchen. There is a portable crib under the stairs.<br /><br />Overall, the house is lovely, relaxed, well-designed to allow space for separate activities while staying connected and enjoying your time together. The house is ideal for an extended family.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />Guest will have access to the full house and all of the amenities. The living room has a TV with Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, ESPN, etc.. High speed wireless internet is accessible in the entire house. The large modern kitchen is fully equipped with double oven, induction stove, large fridge and many small appliances. There are ample extra supplies, such as a Pak-n-Play/port-a-crib, toys, books and puzzles, bedding, towels and pillows.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />I speak English, German and Spanish.<br />We ask that your pet stay out of the bedrooms and off of the couch.<br />Check-in is at 3PM and check-out is at 11AM. Generally, we can be flexible with those. Just ask.
