Jump off the rocks out front and swim right to the buoy.<br /><br /><b>The space</b><br />This condo is the largest of the Sea Village 2-bedroom floor plans at almost 1,000 square feet. Guests enjoy the roomy and open kitchen/dining/living area with ocean views, but especially love watching whales, dolphins, yellow tangs and other sea creatures just off the lanai. <br /><br />We've ensured the unit is equipped with everything you need to enjoy a wonderful vacation in paradise, including wifi, a well-stocked kitchen (blender for smoothies, coffee grinder), brand new washer and dryer, dishwasher, 55-inch TV with Apple TV remote (just bring your passwords for Netflix, Hulu, Apple TV) and beach gear (3 chairs, umbrella cooler, ice packs). This condo is on the 2nd floor, one flight of stairs up (no elevator). <br /><br />Parking is unassigned in the parking lot. One space comes with the unit. <br /><br />Beach gear: 3 beach chairs, umbrella, cooler bag, 3 snorkel sets (no fins, just masks and snorkels). <br /><br />For Ironman athletes and fans, look right out into the ocean from the lanai for the famous 2.4 mile marker Ironman turnaround buoy! You can swim to the 2.4 mile buoy directly from the complex!<br /><br />Bedrooms/Bathrooms:<br />The primary bedroom has a King bed and an ensuite bathroom with a tub. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the guest bath with walk-in shower. Both bedrooms have ample closets and dressers for storage and are cooled by AC. Please note: The water temperature in the showers is not very hot. Due to the complicated plumbing system and the unique location of the valve, the temperature cannot be adjusted. We continue to work with building management on a longer term solution. <br /><br />Grounds:<br />The grounds of Sea Village are lush and well-maintained. The heated pool and hot tub are centrally located and oceanfront. Just behind the pool is a large common area with BBQ area for grilling. There is also a popular, privately-owned coffee, sandwich and smoothie shop on the property called Green Flash.<br /><br /><b>Guest access</b><br />You will have access to the entire condo + private lanai, pool and hot tub, and BBQ grills near the pool.<br /><br /><b>Other things to note</b><br />IMPORTANT NOTICE: Seasonal Ocean Swell. <br />During fall and winter, we experience powerful ocean swells that can generate significant sea spray and even large wave splashes reaching the property. To protect the unit from potential saltwater damage, it is crucial that the balcony sliding door remains completely closed during these swell events (typically 24-48 hours). Opening doors during these times, even briefly, poses a serious risk of damage to the furniture and interiors. We will provide detailed instructions 1-2 days before a predicted swell. Your cooperation in following these instructions is essential. Please note that these are natural events beyond our control, and partial refunds will not be issued. <br /><br />Air Conditioning:<br />There is newly installed AC in the unit in all rooms. Ceiling fans and the ocean breeze are another option to keep the living room cool and comfortable. The mauka (mountainside) breeze typically develops after sunset and can cool the bedrooms nicely during sleep (note: windows must be open to feel the breeze). <br /><br />Cancellations and Travel Insurance:<br />We strongly recommend obtaining travel insurance. We cannot personally take on the role of additional travel insurance if you need to cancel outside of the published refundable cancellation period. Although all reservations are covered by Airbnb's policies for cancellation (i.e., very limited extenuating circumstances), if you would like coverage for non-covered reasons such as health or family emergencies, work responsibilities, volcanic eruptions that don't threaten the condo, flight cancellations, worries about air quality, etc., please purchase the appropriate additional coverage. For more information about what is covered, please see Airbnb's policies.<br /><br />Don't be alarmed!<br />There is a monthly practice tsunami warning alarm, typically on the first business day of every month at 11:45 a.m.<br /><br />What's that sound?<br />Our complex was built without air conditioning. As a consequence, it is an open windows community. The ocean waves are audible throughout the unit, but less so in the bedrooms. Most find the sound soothing, but if your guests staying in the 2nd bedroom need complete silence when sleeping, this may not be the unit for you. You may also hear the occasional coqui frog after dark. This is an invasive species that is actively exterminated so it is not very common. Additionally, the living portion of the unit faces the ocean to maximize enjoyment of the view, which means the bedrooms are on the same side of the building as the parking. Everyone's windows are often open, so we encourage guests to be quiet when coming and going and even when talking or taking calls in the bedrooms during quiet hours. You will, inevitably, hear some guests move their luggage down the stairs or talk a bit too loudly on their way in/out. We hope the pleasant sounds outweigh the others. Luckily, road noise is not a problem.<br /><br />Construction:<br />Construction at the complex or areas surrounding the condo is beyond our control. We do not offer refunds, relocations, or discounts for construction. If there is excessive noise beyond normal working hours (typically 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), we will attempt to contact the construction site manager regarding working hours.<br /><br />Bugs:<br />While we maintain a clean and pest-free environment, it's important to remember that Hawaii's tropical climate naturally attracts some insects. The building complex conducts quarterly pest control treatments with safe and environmentally friendly products. In the unlikely event that spraying occurs during your stay, we'll notify you in advance. We're also happy to provide additional cleaning upon request to ensure your comfort.<br /><br />Surfboards:<br />Surfboards on the wall in the unit are for decoration only; they are not to be removed from the unit and/or used.
